National indicators
To give an overview of Sustainable Development in the UK, there is a suite of 68 national sustainable development indicators, listed below. The indicators are also published in Measuring progress: sustainable development indicators 2010.
The indicators include 20 key indicators which provide an overview of some of the important goals for sustainable development. These are highlighted below with an asterisk.
All 68 indicators fall into one or more of four themes:
- Sustainable consumption and production
- Climate change and energy
- Natural resource protection and enhancing the environment
- Creating sustainable communities and a fairer world
Formal summary reporting - pie chart summaries showing the number of measures improving, showing little or no change, or deteriorating overall, and for the four themes.
Data and Methods - spreadsheets containing all the data presented in the indicators below and information on the methodology behind the traffic light assessment system used for the indicators.
