ARCHIVE: Statements of Rural Policy
The Government’s Rural Policy – that addressing the needs of rural people is the responsibility of everyone in all parts of Government - has remained essentially unchanged since the Rural White Paper (Our Countryside: The Future - A Fair Deal for Rural England) was published in 2000.
It was restated in Rural Strategy 2004, and has been further restated on numerous occasions since then, including:
- Dan Norris article
- Hilary Benn speech at the Commission for Rural Communities summit on Releasing the innovative potential of rural economies - "Why the rural economy matters"
- The Government’s response to the CRC Economies report
