Defra poultry meat and eggs

We deal with strategic and regulatory issues, and stakeholder engagement, in these areas;
- The EU CAP egg and poultry regimes including:
- EC Egg & Poultry Management Committee (ManCom)
- Marketing and quality standards for eggs (including grading, packing, storage, labelling and special marketing terms (SMT) - criteria for free range and barn production systems)
- Marketing and quality standards for poultry and poultrymeat (including grading, condition of presentation, labelling, water content and SMT)
- Hatcheries regulations
- International trade matters relating to eggs and poultry (export refunds, representative prices)
- Liaison and lead policy contact with the Egg Marketing Inspectorate (EMI)
- Commodity questions relating to laying hens, broiler (meat type) chickens, capons, turkeys, ducks, geese, farmed game birds (eg, pheasants), quail and snails
