for Regional Food and Drink Producers aims to help address one
of the main barriers to the encouragement of more local sourcing and
highlights a number of successful initiatives some of which have been
part-funded under the Defra funded England
Rural Development Programme (ERDP). It comprises a step-by-step guide to help producers understand the distribution options available to them; whether they want to service the local community with their own van, or link up with a major manufacturer to expand their distribution nationally. The guide was produced by the IGD with support from Food From Britain under its Defra funded Regional Food programme: |

UK. Following on from this, Defra helped fund a Business in The Community (BiTC) and IGD guide for small businesses looking to work with large food retailers and foodservice companies. |
