Working Parties - Grade and Structure Working Party
Since its inception in 2004 the Board has implemented a new Grading Structure and has examined the possibility of a mechanism for acquiring qualifications (both accredited and non-accredited) within the industry. It has commissioned research from Lantra and the NPTC and during the next twelve months will be examining the implications for the Wages Order of the new qualifications framework which they are developing for the industry.
The Working Party was initially established to devise a career structure for workers in the agricultural and horticultural industries. The new grading system took effect on 1 October 2005. The Working Party continued to refine the system by establishing a competence framework for workers to enable them to gain promotion to the higher grades.
