ARCHIVE: Livestock movements, identification and tracing: pigs
Whether you keep one pig as a pet or a commercial herd you need to follow certain rules regarding the identification of your animal.
Livestock movements
Pig movements must be accompanied by a completed AML2 movement document. The movement must be reported by the recipient of the animals to their Local Authority within 3 days of the movement taking place using the appropriate AML form.
Pet pigs which are returned immediately to the holding they were moved from should be moved under a PRIMO walking licence issued by the Divisional Veterinary Manager (DVM). Pigs moving from a market will need an individual movement licence. This will be issued at the market by the Local Authority and will also serve as the PRIMO movement document.
