ARCHIVE: International trade: Importer Information Notes

Importer Information Notes (IINs) provide a summary of general conditions and veterinary checks for imports of live animals and products of animal origin from other Member States and from outside the EU (known as third countries).

While every attempt is made to keep information notes current, import conditions may change and importers are responsible for checking the current status of the requirements.

Situations where emergency safeguard action has been taken, at very short notice, to prohibit the importation of certain animals/products from certain countries following an outbreak of serious disease in those countries may not be covered. Importers are advised to contact Animal Health to check if any action has been taken:

Importers should note that the information given relates only to animal health conditions of import. It does not give guidance on other controls which may need to be met. An information page giving details of other organisations which importers may need to consult, is available.

Consolidated texts, which integrate the basic instruments of European Union legislation with their amendments and corrections in a single, non-official document, are also available. Each consolidated text contains a list of all legal documents taken into account for its construction. Texts provided in this section are intended for information only, and have no legal value. For legal purposes please refer to the texts published in the 'Official Journal of the European Union'.
