Paper and board

Table 20 contains data on the total weight of waste paper and board recovered and recycled by the UK paper and board industry. Table 21 shows the recycled content of UK newsprint between 1990 and 2004. In April 2000, the UK newspaper publishing industry and newsprint producers, in discussion with Government, agreed to a target of 60 percent waste paper in UK newspapers by the end of 2001 rising to 65 per cent by the end of 2003. Both these targets were reached and passed a year in advance.
