ARCHIVE: Interdepartmental Group on Costs and Benefits
The Interdepartmental Group on Costs and Benefits (IGCB) is a Defra-led group of government analysts that provides analysis and advice relating to the quantification and valuation of local environmental impacts.
The main objectives of the IGCB are:
- Developing, publishing and promoting interdepartmentally agreed evaluation approaches to local environmental issues;
- Advising and supporting the application of this approach to evaluate policies with local environmental impacts;
- Undertaking specific analytical projects on policies with a major impact on a specific local environmental factor, such as strategy documents; and
- Identifying, assessing and as appropriate addressing informational gaps in the existing evidence bases.
