Calculation of solvent consumption for dry cleaners
March 2008 - Please note: In both the single and multiple monthly sheets there is an error in the entry relating to nominal monthly solvent use. Please see AQ 04(08) for details.
- AQ 04(08) (PDF 200 KB)
The attached three spreadsheets (known as Solv Calc) provide a simple means by which dry cleaners can calculate their solvent consumption for the purposes of PPC/Solvent Emissions Directive compliance. The three spreadsheets are:
- Solvent Management Spreadsheets - multiple - for operators using more than one machine (Excel 1.90 MB)
- Solvent Management Spreadsheets - single - for operators with only one machine (Excel 1.70 MB)
- Solvent Management Spreadsheets - version for printing (PDF 40 KB)
The methodology has been drawn up through the combined efforts of the Textile Services Association and Defra/the Local Authority Unit and trailed with a dozen dry cleaners and with selected local authorities. The spreadsheets will be available to all dry cleaners (whether TSA members or not) via their website www.tsa-uk.org/. Local authorities are encouraged to inform dry cleaners in their area of the existence of the spreadsheet and, as appropriate, provide them with a copy.
