Review of Use of Noise Abatement Notices Served Under Section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990
Defra let a research contract to Rupert Taylor with the following principal aims:
- To establish how local authority Environmental Health Departments currently operate enforcement by the use of noise abatement notices under section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (as amended)
- To identify areas in which the current approaches can be improved, and alternative methods adopted, where they are more appropriate to the circumstances.
This report should not be taken as representative of Government policy. The recommendations and interpretations of legislation in this report are those of the author and the local authorities consulted in its drafting.
