ARCHIVE: Offsetting the impact of development on biodiversity
In Defra’s Business Plan, we commit to assessing the scope for action to offset the impact of development on biodiversity.
On these pages you will find more information on issues we need to think further about when assessing the scope for action on offsetting.
This thinking, and comments received on this discussion material will feed in to the new Natural Environment White Paper, due to be launched in Spring 2011.
The Natural Environment White Paper will be developed alongside the government's proposal for a simple and consolidated national planning framework, which will give neighbourhoods and community organisations far more ability to determine the shape of the places in which their inhabitants live.
Many thanks for all comments received on this discussion material.
You may have already commented on the Natural Environment White Paper Discussion Document, and as part of that on Sir John Lawton’s report on England’s ecological networks, Making Space for Nature. There is no need to re-send any information you have already sent in to Defra.
