ARCHIVE: How requests for information are handled

Defra has set up a network of local Information Management Representatives (IMRs) in each business area to promote good information management practices, raise awareness and provide guidance on the access to information legislation.

A range of information and guidance has been issued to staff to help them deal with requests efficiently in accordance with the legislation. This includes:

The Ministry of Justice publishes quarterly statistics on how central government (including Defra) are handling non-routine requests for information.

Defra also publishes its response record in handling requests for personal information in accordance with section 7 of the Data Protection Act 1998.
