Ref: 41/10
Issued: 2010-11-16
Consultation start: 2010-11-16
Consultation end: 2011-02-22
Summary
The consultation into the draft Waste Water National Policy Statement ended on 22 February 2011. As part of the consultation a commitment was made to place a summary of all responses on the Defra website. Careful consideration of the consultation responses, and the report produced by the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee, is currently underway. We will update the website when publication dates for the summary of responses, and response to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee are available.
To prevent environmental damage and poor water quality, the Government must provide an adequate waste water infrastructure. The strategic need and justification for a new waste water infrastructure are set out in the draft National Policy Statement for Waste Water and the accompanying documents listed as Annexes below which legislation requires us to produce. The Consultation Document explains the context and purpose of the draft National Policy Statement and poses a number of questions at Chapter 6 which we invite you to consider.
The full list of consultees is set out in Annex 6 of the consultation document. We welcome comments from all sectors and the general public.
