ARCHIVE: Third sector advisory board partnership groups

The Board would establish time-limited Partnership Groups and task groups  as it sees fit. The groups would be formed by seeking interested representatives from relevant organisations, partnerships of organisations or networks who are able to reach the required audiences. One or more members of the Board would provide a contact point for each group. It is envisaged that in the first year, the following Partnership groups would be established to implement commitments in Defra’s Third Sector Strategy:

  • An advocacy and voice group: to undertake a piece of work to explore  existing networks, intermediaries and channels which could be used to help advocate the views of smaller or harder to reach voices in Defra affairs. Particularly, faith groups, BME groups, young peoples’ networks and regional third sector networks.
  • A sustainable places group: to explore how third sector organisations at local and regional level can work more closely with members of LSPs, EA, NE and GOs to champion environmental outcomes in localities through LAAs, Sustainable community strategies and single regional strategies.
  • A delivery partners group: to provide a virtual or face-to-face mechanism which invites third sector organisations who are already delivery partners for Defra (e.g. ENCAMS, NEA etc), to come together. This would consider ways to improve networking, information exchange, co-ordination and strategic capability – with the resulting advice and conclusions being fed back to the Board.

Groups would take forward pieces of work as part of the Board’s overall Annual Work Programme and as part of the Defra’s funding for this work programme.
