To improve the Black and Minority Ethnic representation of our Public Appointments: Community Engagement
Key Elements
- To conduct meetings with recruitment consultants to revise the contract terms to incentivise recruitment consultants to deliver a more diverse range of candidates by targeting hard to reach communities (June 2008)
- To run a workshop with representation from Defra’s public bodies in consultation with HR (September 2008)
- To publicise Defra Public Appointments using Black and Minority Ethnic media, for example The Voice and asianjobsite.co.uk (ongoing)
Outcomes
The representation of BME people on improves on all Defra public bodies.
Performance /progress measures
- Defra will ensure progress in comparison to other Central Government Departments.
